Iām so overwhelmed with gratitude & so excited to get our little community started. My first substack will be all about coquito, the šµš· holiday drink. If you have coquito stories, I want to hear them!
One of the biggest regrets of my life was not getting my grandmotherās coquito recipe before she passed away. Every year I tinker with the proportions but feel I never get it right. Her secret ingredient was anise liqueur, the inexpensive kind you get with the coffee beans for chichaĆto.
OHMYGOSH. THis made me all sorts of emoptional. You have to keep going. THere's nothing quite like the moment when you finally nail your Abuela's lost recipe. It feels like they are in the room with you. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Feliz navidad!
10?!?!? Youāre so loved! I saw you on MasterChef years ago and loved you. Iām fan girling so hard at being part of your Substack and am so excited to see where you go! Canāt wait to learn to cook Puerto Rican food!
Holy ish. I don't know why I'm shocked that you're fan girling, but I am. Thank you. That is very humbling. I hope you get a chance to read my latest - it's all about coquito! XOXO -Monti
